It is our last week of first grade! Can you believe it?! We have a lot of exciting activities planned for this week. I know I’ve sent many reminders, but I wanted to send another just to ensure you are aware of what is planned this week.
I’ve created a quick (5 question) survey in regards to all of my communication to see if it is useful to you. If you have a few minutes, I would truly appreciate you completing it. The link is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CM8F5QK Thank you!!!
Mrs. Sullivan let us know that all of our library books have been turned in! We are the only first grade class with every book turned in. Great job, Room 101!
Ms. O’Boyle came in this morning to discuss “Summer Math.” This is a (pink) packet that will come home with your child’s report card. The packet includes math games that will reinforce our math skills. Students are encouraged to play a total of math games for 1 hour over a week’s period of time. There is a log to be completed in the back of the packet. Students who return their Summer Math log in September will receive a small prize. All students will need to complete these games are the directions (pink packet) and a deck of cards. If you do not have a deck of cards and cannot afford to purchase a deck of cards, please let me know and we will try to get you a deck of cards before summer break.
This week is a Whale of a Week! It is a week full of spirit days. Today’s spirit day was to wear Willett Wear or blue! Here is the rest of the week’s spirit days:
- Tuesday: Red, White, and Blue Day
- Wednesday: Sports Day
- Thursday: Luau Day – please no bathing suits; if your child is wearing a grass skirt, please be sure to put shorts or something on underneath the grass skirt.
- Friday: Wear Yellow!
The end of the week is full of different routines, etc.
- Wednesday: Specialist Showcase! First grade’s Specialist Showcase begins at 12:45 and ends at 1:45. Students will be bringing family members (as a class) to different stations to learn about what we have done in Gym, Technology, Art, and Music. If you plan on coming, please be sure to arrive at 12:45 and enter through Door 9 (that is the door walkers are dismissed from). If you have not sent in your RSVP for this event, you can send in a note and I will inform the office.
- Thursday: Step Up Day and Olive Garden Lunch! On Thursday we will be visiting a second grade classroom to learn about second grade. For lunch on Thursday, Room 101 will be treated to Olive Garden because we won Pennies for Patients!! If your student does not want to have Olive Garden for lunch he/she can bring lunch from home or order lunch from school.
- Friday: LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! Friday will be the last day of school. It is a half day for students. School starts at 8:45 and dismisses at 12:30. Lunch is not served on Friday. Please be sure to send your child in with an extra snack. If your student’s dismissal routine is changing for the last day of school, please send in a note so that we can inform the office.
Report cards go home with students on the last day of school.
There will be lots of papers coming home with students this week—lots and lots of old work that I have been hoarding. Please continue to send your student in with his/her folder and backpack daily.
Thank you for all of your support throughout the school year. I am truly sad to see this year to come to a close. The students have become such great friends and classmates! I am very proud of their hard work and positive attitudes! I hope everyone has a successful school year next year… I’ll be checking in!
Thank you,
Mrs. Bower
