This week is one that will be very "off" for grade 1. We have specials and recess at different times each day due to PARCC testing in the older grades. Also, this week we will not have a Reading Street Story as it is our Unit CEPA Week! Please be sure you send in a picture of your student's treasure by tomorrow if you have not done so already.
To those who have sent in a picture of your student's treasure --- as indicated on the yellow form that was sent home previously, these will be posted on our classroom website. If you sent in a picture with younger siblings or people who do not want to be identified on the classroom website, please email me ASAP and send in a new treasure picture.
We will spend a lot of time learning about plants as well this week... and do even more planting! Students already planted Zinnias. This week we will be planting beans that we will transplant into the Willett Garden! :)
There will not be a homework packet this week. Also, there will not be a spelling test or reading test on Friday! Yahoo!! However, please continue to read at home with students, despite not receiving a homework packet/reading log. I know it is a very busy time of year, but to help students get ready for grade 2, reading needs to continue to be a priority!
Students will be coming home with fundraising information on the Move-a-Thon! This fundraiser is to assist with purchasing of new gym equipment, which has not been done in over 8 years. Ask your students, the supplies Mr. Silver uses are extremely old! Mr. Silver does his best with what he has, but he could use our help!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
