As many of you probably heard, we received caterpillars last week. Students have already enjoyed watching them grow and change in the short period of time we have had them. I can't wait to see what they look like tomorrow! We have been observing them each day and writing about what they look how and how they are growing. Students love it!
Our caterpillar friends go perfectly with our story this week titled I'm a Caterpillar. With this story, and our classroom caterpillars, we will learn all about a caterpillar's life cycle. While reading this story we will focus on r-controlled er, ir, and ur as well as the contractions 's, 've, 're. We will also look at nonfiction's text structure to help us identify other texts that are nonfiction.
During Math this week we will take our unit 6 assessments on Monday and Tuesday, and then start Unit 7 on Wednedsay. Unit 7 is all about Subtraction Fact Strategies and Attributes of Shapes. Students are still struggling with addition and subtraction fluency, so I am excited to focus some more time on that in this unit.
I am out Thursday and Friday of this week for CS-STEM Integration and Collaboration March Meetings. I have already informed the students so that they are aware that I will be out those two days. There will be a substitute teacher in the classroom for those days.
I will be submitting the Scholastic Book Order Monday around 11am. If you would like to place an order, please do so before then.
