At Curriculum Night it was requested that I draft a list of iPad apps that we use in my classroom. I quickly gathered that list and will attach it here, and on the Documents and First Grade Website pages. If you know of any apps I left off this list that you use with your first grader, let me know! The list is a work in progress. :) Each year I enjoy hosting PC Education students in my classroom as I know the importance of getting classroom experience prior to graduating college. Last year I was able to have two Practicum Students for the Fall Semester and then a full-time student teacher for the Spring Semester. Students love having the extra adult support in the classroom. Last year, my students made such a great connection with the practicum students and I know this year they will as well!
This year, PC asked for teachers to volunteer their classrooms again and I jumped at the chance. Thus, starting today and until December 10th, we will have two PC students in our classroom from 9:15am-10:45am each Wednesday. This works perfectly with our ELA block - allowing for even more teacher centers! :) Ms. Ross and Ms. Mega will be an excellent addition to our classroom. I am sure students will love having them as well. :) So, if your students come home talking about Ms. Ross and Ms. Mega, that is who they are! :) If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. It was such great weather on Saturday, I hope you were able to get outside and play! :)
I hope you have a great week at school! See you soon! It was so great meeting those who could make it to Curriculum Night last night. I really enjoyed meeting students and families. It has made me even more eager to come back in October!
I hope everyone is able to access the website easily. I am going to try to come up with more convenient ways for you to access updates. One parent asked if there was a way to have these post sent to emails- I am still working on that. I think it is a great idea. One thing that was suggested is if you have an iPhone you can view the website on the browser and then save it to your Home Screen (it will make it like an app) - then you can access it easily too. I am not sure if this is the same for Android phones. How to do this on the iPhone is to go to the website on Safari, at the bottom you will see a Box with an arrow pointing up - click that. Then click the button that says "Add to Home Screen" - voila! :) I am also coming up with a list of great first grade Apps per request. I love that idea! :) It is so nice to collaborate with families to see what works for you and what I can do to help your child. Having open communication is key! Again, I appreciate all your support and patience while I continue the last few weeks of my maternity leave. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. You can leave me a message here, or my email is [email protected]. I can't wait to continue the school year with you and your student! Tomorrow night is Curriculum Night! Be sure to check the notice for the first grade information! If you lost the notice, I've included it in the Documents section as well as posted the schedule for grade 1 below. Can't wait to meet you in the gym at 6:40pm! Please note, I will be leaving around 7:30pm.

Also updated is our class schedule. :) I hope to see everyone at Curriculum Night!
I will be there from 6:45-7:30pm! :) Can't wait to meet you!! I hope everyone had a great first week! I was thinking about you and how much I love the first week. I can't wait for our first week together in October! I hope it isn't too hot in the classroom and that you are bringing in a water bottle to keep on your desk and stay hydrated! Remember, you can refill it as many times as you need with our classroom water bubbler. This week you started your letter sounds review and you're starting to get familiar with our Everyday Math program. You read many of my favorite read alouds this week, too! :) How do you like having recess before lunch? That's different, isn't it? Have you learned your lunch code yet? A great way to practice entering your lunch code is on a calculator at home! If you need to know your lunch code, please ask Ms. Ambler to write it down and send it home. Today is the first regular season Patriots game. Are you watching? We just put Carly down for a nap so she is ready for her first game. Do you know my Dad works for the Patriots? He's in charge of all their technology and telecommunications. During the game he is on the sidelines wearing a bright yellow hat! He wears a bright yellow NFL hat so it is easy for the coaches and offensive and defensive captains to find him in the crowd of players and coaches! There are "yellow hats" for each team. You can usually find him around Coach Belichick, Coach Patricia, Josh McDaniels, or Tom Brady! If you watch the game, be sure to look for him! :) I can't wait to meet you. Feel free to leave me a comment and I will write back to you, I promise! :) See you soon, Mrs. Bower Happy First day of First Grade! I hope you all have a wonderful first day. I'm thinking of each of you and can't wait to meet you in October! :) |
