Happy (almost) December!
Can you believe it is Ms. D's last week with us?! Her last day will be Friday, December 4th (which is also her birthday). It will be a very sad day in Room 101. The students and I do not want her to leave us! There will probably be a lot of tears.
On Thursday, December 3rd, please send your student in wearing his/her Feinstein sweatshirt. Mr. Feinstein will be attending a Willett assembly! Let's show our Willett and Feinstein pride by wearing our sweatshirts! :)
Friday, December 4th, is the Kindergarten and Grade 1 Reading Night! Come join Willett's Polar Express in your pajamas for a night of fun! There will be crafts, a reading of the Polar Express, and plenty of photo opps!
We will be returning to our homework packets this week as we begin Unit 2 of Reading Street which focuses on communities. Please have students work on the homework packet each night and return it on Friday (along with their library books). Our first story is A Big Fish for Max which discusses a family community. We will be focusing on the digraphs sh and th as well as the vowel sound in ball. We will be working on identifying the main idea of a story. Our spelling test will be on Friday.
Students will be working on measuring in Math. We will use nonstandard units to measure different items. We will also discuss how to compare lengths and the importance of using the same unit to measure something. It is a hands on and fun week of Math! :)
Our Animal Habitats ThingLink Projects are up on the website. Have you had a chance to check them out? They came out so great! I am so proud of all of my students!!! :)
I hope everyone has a great week!
GO PATS!
