While the official totals have not been announced, I can unofficially say that Room 101 raised over $550 for Pennies for Patients. I am so proud of each student and how generous and caring they were over the past two weeks! Willett surpassed the $2,500 amount we raised last year. I can't wait to hear Willett's total! :)
Our schedule is different Monday and Tuesday of this week due to PARCC. We will have specials in the morning and recess in the afternoon. Next week, our schedule will be specials in the morning and recess in the afternoon for Monday - Thursday.
This week we are continuing with "The Fox's Foray" and Folktales. We will read Henny Penny and The Gingerbread Man to continue our discussion of folktales and foxes! At the end of the week we will debate what we think about foxes!
Depending on soil (Willett was out last week), we will start planting our plants in the classroom for the Willett Garden. First grade is growing beans for the garden! We will also continue to learn about a plant's life cycle, parts, and needs.
In Math we are continuing with Fact Families, but we will also learn about Attribute Blocks.
I am so proud of how hard students have been working. I know it is easy to get distracted due to the weather, but we are doing our best to stay on track. Please remember to send your student in with a water bottle due to the heat in the classroom. Also, per Mr. Cateon's phone call and email, please be sure students are dressed appropriately for school -- this includes leaving open-toed shoes and tank tops at home.
Thank you for all that you do!
Have a great week,
Mrs. Bower
